"There are 5 bedrooms on this level alone, including the master, but also another family bathroom, sewing room and pantry" he says. "We were lucky to have so much space and comfort growing up. For a time, we lived here not only with my immediate family but also my grandmother, Aunty and cousins and we were still comfortable. On the top floor there are 2 further bedrooms and walk-in attic spaces currently used for storage but perfect for conversion to further living space."
There is even greater potential for the property's extensive outbuildings and outside space subject to relevant planning permissions. "Beyond the kitchen wing lies 2 utility rooms, stables for 3 horses and a double garage complete with inspection pit and original hayloft above" he says. "This is a beautiful part of the world and my brother and I were very fortunate to have grown up here with our parents and extended family," he says. "Monmouthshire is a beautiful county and the area is ideal for families and those who want the best in country living. There are excellent primary schools in Caerleon and Usk and many local children attend private schools at Monmouth and Rougemont. There are award-winning country pubs & hotels, historic sites and leisure facilities such as Llandegfedd Reservoir nearby. You are also within easy reach of the Welsh border towns of Monmouth and Chepstow with their independent cafes, shops and festivals not to mention the beautiful river town of Usk which is a stone's throw away. We've particularly enjoyed walking in the hills around Abergavenny and the Black Mountains down the years."

"It's no more than 20 minutes' drive to the M4 so getting to London or going for family holidays in Cornwall has always been easy," he says. "Cardiff and Newport aren't far away either so we've always felt we've had the right balance at 'Clomendy' between country living and convenience - knowing we could always return to the grounds and privacy of the house after a long day."
The grounds at Clomendy Wood extend over 17 acres and encompass two mature woodlands the Colomendy and Llansoar Woods. "The gardens were originally conceived as a series of clearly defined outdoor rooms, surrounded by beech and oak," he says. "These remain, although some re-instatement would be needed, along with multiple lawns, paddock, greenhouse and orchard of flowering plum and apple trees.
Clomendy Wood is ready for the next family. "This was a 'one of a kind' place to grow up," he says. "Our summers were absolutely idyllic here and our children now run across the lawns, woodland and streams as we once did. My family have been very happy here for nearly 60 years and we like to think the next people moving in here will enjoy the size and peace of 'Clomendy' as much as we have.
